The Statement for the Asia OSS Roundtable Roadmap

The participants of the 3rd Asia OSS Roundtable at the 3rd Asia OSS Symposium, representing the 17 Asian economies listed in Appendix 1, hereby agreed to have this statement for the roadmap of the Asia OSS Roundtable. This statement is the result of our efforts to realize the spirit of the Phuket statement (http://www.asia-oss.org/march2003/downloads/statement-AOSSS-030306.html) and a description of our activities at the 3rd Asia OSS Symposium in Hanoi.

The roadmap comprises of projects and time line.

A) Projects in the following areas were proposed to be initiated by participants of the 3rd Asia OSS Roundtable, each one to be led by a Task Force:

  1. Human resource development on OSS
  2. Inception of an Asia OSS repository for software and other resources.
  3. Collaboration on internationalization and localization of OSS
  4. Promotion and discussion of OSS business models
  5. Collaboration with international communities on OSS
  6. Collaboration and cooperation with standards organizations

B) Participants of the 3rd Asia OSS Roundtable intend to deliver these projects within two years starting March 2004.
