The 5th Asia Open Source Software (OSS) Symposium was held in Beijing, China on Mar 2-4, 2005 during the China OSS Week (Feb. 28-March 4) together with Debian Mini-conference and Codefest, hosted by China Software Industry Association, and China OSS Promotion Union.

 At the 5th Asia OSS Symposium hosted by CICC and China Electronics Standardization Institute, about 200 people including 60 foregin participants from 16 economies attended. They discussed concrete action plans under the theme "Human Resource Development", and agreed with Beijing Statement (PDF).

 At the same time, more than 80 people participated to the Debian Mini-conference in which several experts from Europe gave presentation. For Codefest, more than 30 people participated from China, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea, and requested to hold the events continuously.
